Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go.
~Oscar Wilde

Allow me to make a plug for DirecWay satellite internet service: I would rather be using dial-up in an internet cafe in hell.

So, no internet all summer, effectively cutting me off from the world as well as squelching my creative writing outlet. So what the heck has gone on this summer?

I've been working for my dad. Not bad money, but really bad work combined with really hot weather. And I haven't lost weight as I have previous summers.

I went to Brazil. It was amazing. We built a church in four days, and I know awesome things are happening right now. Not to mention I might have met a beautiful girl named Priscila who is now corresponding via email.

I did get a little sick while there and spent the next few weeks at home recuperating. I wanted to find a poem about the joys of diarhea, but I couldn't find one without the phrase "cha cha cha."

I read Harry Potter 6. It felt rushed, and there were more questions supplied than answers. Book six of a series is also too late to be introducing horcruxes and inferi, something Harry probably should have heard of long ago. I should have gone with my initial instincts on who the Half-Blood Prince was and who died. New beliefs: Snape is still good; Dumbledore told him to do it in order to save Draco... the bastard. If Harry doesn't go back to Hogwarts he's gonna need somebody other than Ron and Hermione to help him.

I went to seven weddings, ranging from posh to redneck, my favorite being my roommate's, where I cried while singing "You Raise Me Up." My second-favorite being the one whose father, rather than walking her down the isle, dragged her on a trailor with his lawn tractor.

I got a new cell phone. I wanted two things: Verizon and bluetooth. Only one phone fits, and it was expensive. But who cares. I just need to figure out cool ringtones because the ones that came on it suck.

I haven't hung out with anyone due to the fact that I couldn't go out past 9 because of early work and paranoid parents. That and I live too far away from anyone I really like.
I haven't seen any movies, either, because the only company would be the 'rents.

I go back to school in three days. I'm so excited I started packing yesterday. I filled up my trunk and I'm hoping it will settle so I can fit all my crap in there.

Brief but beautiful. Hope you liked it.

Hi Trey! I'm glad you are going to be back soon! Hopefully I can get up to the Grove to see everyone... which sadly with the new job I just got seems a little more problematic than I originally hoped. Oh well, I'll try. Again, glad you're back and happy to hear about your email romance :-). Miss you! ~ Rainey

You should definitely make your phone go "dinkle-donkle, dinkle-donkle, someone's calling you - GOULET!"
